Implementing Wearable Sensors for Clinical Application at a Surgical Ward: Points to Consider before Starting

Incorporating technology into healthcare processes is necessary to ensure the availability of high-quality care in future. Wearable sensors are an example such that could decrease workload, enable early detection patient deterioration, and support clinical decision making by professionals. These unlock continuous monitoring vital signs, as heart rate, respiration blood oxygen saturation, temperature, physical activity. However, broad successful application wearable on surgical ward currently lacking. This may be related complexity, especially when it comes replacing manual measurements report provides practical guidance peers before starting with ward. For this purpose, Non-Adoption, Abandonment, Scale-up, Spread, Sustainability (NASSS) framework adoption innovations organizations used, combining existing literature our own experience field over past years. Specifically, relevant topics discussed per domain, key lessons subsequently summarized.
